After a while it got to the point that we really needed a name. The story behind it is actually different than you might expect. Werder the idea came from one of us (Marvin/Barbar) nor did it happen in a meeting let alone in Germany. No, the idea came up on vacation with a friend and roommate at the time (Michale Pfau) When I sat down in our little hut in Norway at dusk to find the most imaginative yet simple combination of different words that could be associated with our idea, was it Michi who came up with the simple yet effective idea of NEAT; Composed of Networking and Eat, the result was a logical yet short and simple name. Now that the name was in place, it was time for the first logo and design. At that time still more than inexperienced in Adobe and generally only limited drawing and illustration skills, the first design was created on the iPad with the help of a free app (Vectornater). Believe me, it was definitely not due to the app that the first design developed like this, because it served its purpose more than excellently, especially for the beginning. No, of course it was my lack of skills that made the whole thing look anything but professional. From the overabundance of colour, to the glorious idea of including a more or less well-developed speech bubble in the name, to the lack of recognition and simplicity, everything was included. Nevertheless, proud and happy, we knew that this logo, which would very likely not last long, would carry and embody our idea at first.
